With todays newer restorative materials, bonding can be a great way to correct problems with tooth shape, colour or to close spaces. Bonding usually involves minimal tooth preparation and can often be done without local anesthetic. A colour is chosen to match the colour of your existing teeth and the white composite material is bonded directly to the tooth surface, then shaped and polished.
Bonding does not last forever and can stain over time. It is also not as strong as your tooth enamel and can chip if you grind your teeth or chew on pencils.
